Worlds on Linux Wine

Installing:

first install wine & winetricks

 

$ WINEARCH=win32 WINEPREFIX=~/.wine wine wineboot

$ winetricks win7 corefonts droid ddr=gdi ie8

download & install worlds experimental like a normal windows installer

Worlds will now work fine except for Sounds, Music & Movies

Warning the following instructions can lead to worlds becoming unstable

$ winetricks devenum

$ winetricks wmp9

$ winetricks dmsynth winxp

install K-Lite_Codec_Pack_1385_Basic.exe

$ winetricks wmv9vm

$ winetricks wmp10

$ winetricks directsound

$ winetricks quartz

install LAVFilters-0.61.1-Installer.exe

Worlds should now be able to play asf, local wav, wma, mp3 & wmv movies.

to get Midi playing (if it dont already)

install timidity and freepats from you linux software manager

Then

$ timidity -iA

this will tell linux to open a port to your sound out instead of the hardware midi you dont have!
